Overview

Isla Verde Reef (Arrecife de la Isla Verde) is a shore snorkel spot in Carolina, inside the Reserva Marina Arrecife de la Isla Verde created by Law 274 of 2012. Heads up: the buoys meant to keep motorboats out are vandalised and enforcement is limited, according to a 2019 report by the reserve's co-management board, so watch for boats. A travel guide describes reef with seagrass, and the law and the 2019 report record threatened elkhorn and staghorn corals, sea fans, nurse sharks, rays, French angelfish, and hawksbill and green turtles; manatees visit to shelter and feed. A no-fishing order was in effect in 2019, and the report advises knowing how to swim and bringing a float or board with a flag.[1][2][3]
