PuertoRicoDiveSites.com is an independent guide run from Puerto Rico. We collect as little information as we can. This page explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Browsing the site

• We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information.
• Searches: when you search, we record the search words, filters and number of results so we can see what people look for and which searches find nothing. We do not store your IP address or any identifier with these records.
• Maps: map images are loaded from OpenFreeMap (map data © OpenStreetMap contributors). Like any website, their servers receive your IP address and browser details when your device requests map tiles. Directions links open OpenStreetMap.
• Ocean conditions: buoy, tide and forecast data are fetched by our server from NOAA and the National Weather Service. Your device does not contact those services, and nothing about you is sent to them.
• Hosting logs: our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) for security and troubleshooting, for a limited period.
• Analytics: if we enable visitor statistics, we use a cookieless, privacy-focused service that does not identify individual visitors. We will update this page if that changes.

Suggestions and corrections

When you submit a correction or suggest a dive site, we store:

• what you tell us (the details, locations, links and evidence you provide);
• your name, email and role, only if you choose to give them, so we can follow up;
• a one-way, salted code derived from your IP address, used only to limit repeated submissions and spam. The raw IP address is not stored.

We use submissions only to review and improve the dive-site information. Your name and email are never published. The factual content you send (for example a depth or a location) may be used, after review, in our database and on the website, without your name.

We keep submissions as part of our research records. You can ask us to delete your name and email, or a whole submission, at any time.

Maintainer accounts

The admin area uses a single secure session cookie for signed-in maintainers only. Visitors never receive it.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
