Overview

Playa Caracas (Red Beach) is a snorkel spot inside the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, one of the first beaches past the refuge entrance (entry is free; follow the signs). Heads up: a 2026 travel guide warns of waves and current beyond the curve of the cove. Inside, the sheltered, gentle water is described as good for families, and the best snorkeling is along the rock wall on the east (left) side, with many sea fans and fish. Services are limited to picnic shelters and trash bins, so bring water.[1][2][3][4][5]
