Overview

Mosquito Pier (Muelle Mosquito, or Rompeolas) is a Vieques shore dive along a breakwater that the US Navy began in 1941 and halted in 1943; it extends about a mile. Its sheltered water reaches about 40 feet, and it is described as suitable for both beginners and experienced divers. Sea turtles, tarpon, nurse sharks, octopus and eagle rays are reported. The pier once handled Navy ordnance and is part of an underwater munitions site, so leave any objects undisturbed.[1][2][3][4]
